Yes, I agree. In her (hostile) bio, Marion Meade
incensed the Faithful by saying (this is from memory):
"despite two husbands, an indeterminate number of
lovers, and a child, she solemnly proclaimed herself a
virgin." At least she did not float away into the sky
the way Pio Nono informed his flock the Virgin Mary
did.
Absurd as that sounds, it was not untypical of
Victorian times. If I remember correctly, Queen
Victoria, with sleazy grandkids all over the place
(Kaiser Bill was her grandson) claimed to be a virgin
as well.
Anybody else want to claim to be a virgin?
