Is that what you fundamentalist Theosophists are thinking of
regarding Blavatsky ?
No wonder you cant admit she is the one that put Isis and the Secret
Doctrine (with watever she got on litterary sources, and possible
information of some 19th century secret society) together, and not
some bin Laden type spooks like K.H. and Morya.
This also shows why Theosophical fundamentalists are possible
male chauvinists, that is, it has to be cost what cost "men"(and she
knew that) that originated Blavatsky's books.
However the herb stories Steve is mentioning regarding Olcott and
HPB are most likely true, it was fashionable in esoteric circles
that time, and probably the source (that is "interpretation") of
many a "Master" story.
