Dear G----,

Re Kabalah and the Oriental Kabalah: Look at ISIS UNVEILED if you want some
more evidence of a relationship. It is quite striking.

You know you will always be welcome at ay U L T center. The main thing is
that you ought to go there to ask and to contribute what you have learned.
Its not so much what one can obtain, as what one may be able to contribute
in enthusiasm, learning and questioning -- keeps people awake, if anything.
Also there is the brotherhood thing -- the more one assists, the more
valuable one’s study grows. The rough edges of self-opinion can get rubbed
off in a good discussion. No one knows everything and others may have
angles we haven’t even thought of.

Best wishes, and keep up the ”good work.”

Yes. the KEY TO THEOSOPHY (HPB) is a wonderful book if one really studies
and correlates it. Get a copy of the INDEX and use that so it will show you
where some of the best descriptions lie hidden. One always has to think
along with the author. H P B expects to you to do that and not to swallow
it wholesale. If you wish to look into the practical and application side
of Theosophy then look at the VOICE OF THE SILENCE also by H P B. It is
most valuable.

Don’t wonder about me, as you have every bit the same qualities and
potentials I or any one else has. They are concealed until we look for
them. It’s called “self-study.” And this incarnation I’ve been at it for
over 60 years -- but that means nothing, as we all have many future
incarnations to live through and to work with.

Theosophy states as a fact that the WISDOM of the Universe is internal to
every one of us -- it is in BUDDHI ( remember the “imperishable and eternal
MONAD ?”) We all acquire information, memorize it, compare it with
conflicting or similar evidence and arrive at conclusions that suit our
selves. The next phase is trying those out on others to see if there are
common agreements, or variants that need to be adjusted in our reasonings.
BUDDHI is however a well-spring of the wisdom of the ages -- it is in every
Monad and as every Monad communicates instantly with every other, it becomes
Universal Wisdom. That is also how Karma works.

One should not allow the wisdom of things overwhelm us. We are on the
ladder of learning, all of us. The same curriculum is open for study for
all of us. Wisdom is a common commodity. No one owns is, no one can claim
it, it cannot be patented. No one can do more than aspire to learn more
from it. In fact we need only say: NATURE has established it, and Nature
has it well in hand. Then follows the obligation to share it.

So what we ought to do is to study Nature as thoroughly as we can. I have
found Theosophy to be a “door” to such consideration. Hence I recommend it.
Others may also find that it helps them. More power to all of us. We all
start where we find we can do some good -- to ourselves and to others.
Comparisons are useless between us. We all have our individual progress
programs -- which we direct -- and now we find we may have new and wider
duties to discover and then to act on. And, in the meantime we help each
other as and when we can.

But there is an added bonus hidden in all this, and that is we teach
ourselves to THINK: always ask: WHY. Never be satisfied with a “basis.”
There is always a dynamic Force or Power or Quality, that has made that
“basis” possible.

The 5 questions are very important: WHY, WHEN, WHO, WHERE, HOW. We need
to also trust our own “common sense,” and our own innate sense of justice,
truth and verity. But these latter ought to be frequently checked with
others for the sake of a communal accuracy that we can only secure through
“conferencing.”.

We need to delve into that until we find those FUNDAMENTALS on which the
universe is based, and upon which, all LAWS rest. When we have done that we
will realize the brotherhood of all beings in nature and of the overwhelming
brotherhood in wisdom of all humans.

The fundamentals are in SECRET DOCTRINE I pp 14 - 19.

Briefly:

1. UNIVERSAL SPIRIT is EVERYTHING.

2. UNIVERSAL LAW takes care of all details, great or small. And,

3. EVOLUTION is the right and program for every living being, and this
starts with the “smallest of the small”

I would observe in this last, that there is the widest possible evidence for
intelligence operating in and through a tremendous variety of forms. But
what is the binding center to their individual as well as their collective
existence? Why are they present, and where are they going?

As I see it, the range is so wide as to overwhelm our own mental capacity --
with both individual quantities, as well are uniting processes and reasons,
so that waves and masses of individual entities follow the cycles of change
that sweep through their space and manipulate (apparently) their being into
almost robot like responses.

I say “almost” for the reason that there is always an individualizationof
response and not every atom (or human), obeys the same laws exactly. Let us
look: -- at those entities and beings that our Science conceives to be the
sub-atomic particles, and from there in ascending size up to the furthermost
reaches of the greatest GALAXY and collection of stars, nebulae,
interstellar dust, “black” matter, and “black holes.”

But we must not suppose that learning, intelligence, mind and wisdom comes
from only the FORMS or materials. [ Anthropology and paleontology have made
that error - and teach that evolution of fossils is evidence for increments
in intelligence -- until they reach the so far unbridgeable gap between the
ape (the largest of which -- gorilla -- has a brain capacity of about 35
cubic inches, and the “man” (whose brain capacity begins at about 95 cubic
inches).

Those “FORMS” or “BODIES” are only the sheaths, veils or vehicles of an
innate and an intangible FORCE -- the DESIRE TO KNOW, and TO BE.

We are faced with a three pointed paradox:

1. UNIVERSAL SPIRIT is seen to be focused in,

2. a “point” of intangible FORCE. The material forms are found to be in
constant flux, changing every moment, yet serving as resident vehicles for
that ONE IMMUTABLE ENERGIZING FORCE. and,

3. finally the EVOLUTION, through experience, and FREE-CHOICE, of MIND,
CONSCIOUSNESS and INTELLIGENCE -- a total intangible which our modern
Science of Psychology tries to tie down to the physical form or physical
organs, but is only able to perceive in those instruments, the reactive
presence of the passage of energy as WILL transforms DESIRE into ACTION.

I mean the physical organs, brain, nerves, muscles, respond to the desire
and the will which operate on planes that are non-physical and cannot be
demonstrated by instrumentation. I mean their presence is obscure, but seen
to be required. The physical evidence is responsive but not causal or
basic. It is transient.

But this is a long story. The 2nd volume of The SECRET DOCTRINE covers it
well. It also gives valid pints for the Theosophical ( or occult)
reasoning.

You will also find that there are three processes of evolution working
together in all beings and these are :

1. SPIRITUAL [ CONSCIOUSNESS and INTELLIGENCE ]

2. INTELLECTUAL and PSYCHIC [ mind AND emotions ] and,

3. PHYSICAL [ of the astral (energic) and the physical (material)
body ]

And this has been symbolized by Hermes’ Caduceus. the 3 serpents intertwined
in the wand of wisdom.

Best wishes as always,

Dallas

Subject: a :Progress report”

Hey there Dallas,

Wanted to let you know I am finding much useful information in The
Key to Theosophy. So far in the first 100 pgs., I only found one statement I
do not necessarily disagree with, but can say I do not agree with. I am not
a defender of Judaism, but I do know that 'they' hold some of the most (I am
at a loss for words here..)

Amazing(?) stuff I have run across so far. After doing much study in their
mystical and occult stuff, I gained a lot I believe. Enough to lead me to
Theosophy. I will finish by saying I have yet to meet a "Jew" who was
"Jewish" as according to what they teach (Such as Likkutei Amarim-Tanya
(Which I believe was started by Merkebah Mystics/Hebrew Gnostics, using the
Jewish cloak to hide in) which is the basic text of ChaBaD).

Back to the Key; I did commit myself to Theosophy for the
Duration. I am super-glad to see in writing that there are forgiving clauses
for my first few years of trying to be a real Theosophist; for I sure have
been a real pain on some of these Theosophy internet sites. I have also
embarrassed myself so much that I am ashamed to attend my local U.L.T. in
person. I know I can always go back there; but I have self impossed a
'proving myself' thing, so I can go back showing I have done more than
repent. In The Key to Theosophy, I see it Clearly stated all over that the
trials and experiences I get every minute are steps towards progress per
Theosophy. What is even more cool, is the stuff you directed me to study,
the current postings on Theos-L, all are relevant to my immediate spot on
the trail. Again I will say Dallas, you have me wondering about
you, ….Thanks Dallas.

Sincerely,

G----

more on progress report when I get there.
