Dear C-----a:
Evolution is a universal process.
There are two opposed poles in manifestation (creation)
SPIRIT is eternal and is WISE.
Periodically the SPIRIT when moved by LAW manifests. LAW is
always active and never comes to "rest."
When manifestation tales place the settings of a previous
MANIFESTATION are brought into visibility and animated by the
universal LAW and its INHERENT VITALITY. This CREATES all the
many kinds of FORMS.
SPIRIT descends -- as a series of "rays" , also, under the
impulse of the same LAW to help animate the FORMS and give them
INTELLIGENCE and INDIVIDUALITY.
The mixture produces the MONADS Spirit / Matter units. They
pervade the whole universe. They are of many grades of
individual intelligence. They do not die. They live eternally
and only "sleep" between the periods of MANIFESTATION ( in the
bosom of the FATHER -- SPACE).
There is a cycle, a spiral, like a circular ladder on which each
Monad finds itself according to its experience, its Intelligence
and its power of desiring and of thinking (when it becomes a
human).
Where are we human (Monads) on this ":spiral ladder ?"
As human beings we are INDIVIDUAL MIND and SPIRITUAL MONADS
(ATMA-BUDDHI-MANAS) who have gone half way through our evolution.
We have acquired an individual MIND from those who are our
forefathers -- that is, those Humans who have become WISE and
have PRECEDED US. Our child-like minds have been lit up a little
over 18 millions years ago (says The SECRET DOCTRINE).
These whose work (and duty) it is to build, to create and to
illuminate us (the child-minds) are the Great Teachers of
Humanity (it is a process similar to our education of our
children now). Some are to be found in our history and are
credited as founding reforms and religions such as: Jesus,
Buddha, Krishna, Pythagoras, Lao Tzu and many others -- these are
some of the names assumed by them at various times and for
various peoples. They have all taught the same message:
UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD. It is the "priests" who have created the
sects and creeds and the enmity between peoples. But once we
study the basis of other religions we begin to realize how
similar they all are.
As humans, our present line of progress in this current
"Creation" is to become more intelligent as persons in the forms
created by Nature for us to use; and relate our thoughts and
desires to the EFFECT for GOOD or EVIL that they can cause to
others and to ourselves. We all know when we have done GOOD or
BAD. We also know, because of our SPIRITUAL divine selves which
are innate to our forms, that we will end up paying in pain and
suffering for all the ills we may do.
So, in a general way this is the message of Theosophy and a
statement of the facts of our creation and present evolution.
It also shows us that we too can become WISE, just as our
forefathers have done, and then we will be able to aspire to and
discipline our "matter selves" so we also can reach the ultimate
goal SUBLIME PERFECTION.
I am sure this will raise more questions and there may be more
inquiries to look at and think about.
Best wishes,
Dallas

"Then the Lord God formed (YATSAR) man of dust from the ground,
and breathed
(into his nostrils the breath (NESHAMAH or RUACH) of life; and
man became a
living soul (NEPHESH)." (Genesis 2:7)
The first of occurrence of this word gives a hint of its meaning:
"And
Jehovah Elohim formed Man, dust of the ground, and breathed into
his
nostrils the breath of life [neshamah]; and Man became a living
soul
[nephesh]." (Genesis 2:7, Darby) We learn here that the
neshamah -- breath
or force of life -- is not the nephesh, but that it is part of
the nephesh.
The body (from the dust) + neshamah (force of life from God) =
living
nephesh.
I got that from these pages:
http://reslight.addr.com/neshamah.html
http://www.whit.org/shofar/html/sinquest.html
Ruach, the spirit of God is the animating force of the creation,
and the
vitalizing presence of God. See this link [i like the name of the
page:
"Ask the Messanic Rabbi"], and scroll on down to question number
7:
http://www.saltshakers.com/rabbi/rabbi14.htm
These are links to pages that appear to have a handle on
definitions of
these words [again, i haven't validated these definitions as
accurate and
true]
Nonetheless...
Please, if someone else can validate my findings...?
Beyond this email i plan to look further into HPB writings for
validations...[at least i have confidence in her references
anyway!]
Ciao
