Re: Writings by Leadbeater, etc...

Dear Dennis:

Let me refer you to what a wise man said on this.

You will find it in FRIENDLY PHILOSOPHER on p.28. In all such
matters common sense ought to prevail. We are not able
individually to provide people with short-cuts or "party-lines."

As you may not have the book this is what he says there:

"As to Mrs. Besant's opinion of Leadbeater: It is of value only
to those who see value in it, and in any event it is only an
opinion. It has been said that he who speaks of seeing and
meeting with the Master thereby loses touch. My judgment would
be that if, as is said, Leadbeater had stood "face t face with
the 'Great Initiator,' it would never have been spoken of by him,
and no other would have known the fact. Leadbeater sought to be
recognized as a great teacher...any one claiming Adeptship is not
an Adept, and this is in the very nature of things....Te question
is how much is real, how much for effect, how much self-delusion?
The imagination is the image-making power and may create a
glorified image of oneself..."

I would say: Let those who are students and already KNOW WHAT
THEOSOPHY IS, find out. The ones that are going to find
themselves confused will be those who still do not know what the
fundamentals of THEOSOPHY are.

Let me again say what I recently said:

Dallas

Thanks D-----, and again, I say what has been published dozens
of times.

What is it that is not understood?

You might as well (as an analogy) ask what is the motivating
power behind a college or a University or a day-school. It is
the same thing (a I see it) : the study of Nature.

What is really at stake here is the question: Is THEOSOPHY
HONEST AND TRUE? Does it really depict the Universe as it is?
Are the rules and Laws relating to metaphysics, the involution of
Spirit and the evolution of "form" truly and honestly depicted?
Are we dealing with a Historical report compiled from the
experience of a large and very ancient COLLEGE OF ADEPTS [ see
The SECRET DOCTRINE, Vol. I, pp. 272-3, ISIS UNVEILED, Vol.
II, pp 98 - 103 ]

Does it reveal secrets concerning that remarkable, sensitive and
ubiquitous sustaining directive everywhere? Is it Karma? Is it
the force of individual search of TRUTH and REASON ? And, is it
not way in advance of where our matter limited Science is still
struggling to discover that causative and powerful Law and Rule,
which NATURE has established and has put into operation, for
untold millennia? The evidence is before and within us all, and
I for one, would say that Nature has it well in place, within us
as well as within the Earth and the Universe at the present time.

Theosophy is either a basic (but forgotten key) to the science of
opening Nature to scrutiny or it is piffle and foolishness and a
great deal of effort and time has been wasted. I would say that
your careful and constructive inquiries show that innately you do
recognize the unity of Nature and the responsive quality of its
universally inflexible laws.

One thing does remain true, no matter what:

NATURE ALREADY CONTAINS EVERYTHING.

Nature's LAWS sustain and maintain all living things and cause
cooperation to work.

Man's Intelligence is capable of encompassing any and all of
nature's laws, secrets and workings. His determination, his
will, his power of perception is not limited.

Finally. There is a curious saying to be found in The VOICE OF
THE SILENCE (HPB) : "Look inward, Thou art Buddha." (p. 29)

Best wishes,

Dallas
