eventually your Florida ULT study group had been chartered by the
Parent ULT as an "independent Lodge". And let's say the associates
of your Florida lodge then decided they wanted to have a public study
class in the lodge on THE MAHATMA LETTERS. Are you telling me that
the Parent ULT would have no say so in the matter, in fact would have
no concern whatsoever about this study class?

It's the 1970's. An American in East Berlin, talking with an East German
Communist about freedom. The American said that so many people are
persecuted under the Communists just because their opinion differs from that
view of the ruling party. The Communist said several times: How can you know
this, you never lived in East Germany, no one here is persecuted. Please
read our DECLARATION. It is clearly stated that every one is free as in our
system it is the people who rules and no capitalistic exploiter. The
American said that he have seem these things with his own eyes and that the
citizens told him that they are not allowed with foreigners, otherwise they
are jailed by Secret Police. The East German said: You do not understand our
DECLARATION, we guarantee freedom for all, the communistic goverment
consists not of exploiters, but only of communists and communists love the
working class. No one is exploited by anyone, all is in the possession of
the people, so we have complete freedom, in opposite to you; the American
are slaves.

The American didn't knew what to do, as the East German was obviously unable
to understand what he said. It seemed as if he is hypnotized by the sweet
dogmas of his party. Then the American got an idea. Perhaps it would help to
give a simple example. Perhaps then the East German would understand.

So he said: I give you an example, what I mean what freedom is. When I go
the building of our government and cry out load on the street: Jimmy Carter
is a mother-fucker! - Then nothing will happen. No one will persecute me and
no policeman will jail me for that. That is freedom in USA!

The Communist answered: You are kidding me! We have that freedom too. When I
