Physiological Evolution and Intelligence Theosophy
holds as one studies the S.D. that mankind is at core a SPIRITUAL BEING. When Manifestation begins again half the
period is taken up with the re=establishment of the operating field in several
dimensions and planes. Theosophy
states that the most spiritual are gradually sketched in and consolidate
gradually over millions of years, and eventually into physical forms which are separately being evolved. [A more detailed description is given
in THE OCEAN OF THEOSOPHY by W . Q. Judge and can be read “on line” at
http://www.blavatsky.net . This
book is short and the descriptions are a summary of that which the S.D. gives
in greater detail. ] The
patterns established in previous Manvantaras are used and the Karma of each
entity (each is an immortal MONAD),
and the sensitive Universe adjusts this to its final vehicle. The
material stage is the last to “come on to the scene.” In S.D. I 200 is given a diagram that shows how this occurs. As aRace,
mankind is half way through the process and the MIND faculty is said to be
connected with the physical brain about 18 million years ago. [ Called “the LIGHTING UP OF MANAS. ] Thiswas
towards the latter part of what has been named the LEMURIAN RACE, [ Geological period corresponds to the
Miocene and Pliocene ages. ]
Following the Lemurian was the ATLANTEAN Race. This has been on the wane for well over 1,500,000 years and
only a few remnants exist. Our
current Race is named ARYAN
(Noble). Understand that
the word “race” is not the ethic races we see today or can trace in fossils,
but that they indicate a period of time.
Human
fossils begin appearing in the Miocene, and later. There is no evidence that the human frame descended fromthe
APE skeleton. Rather the reverse
as certain great scientists who specialize in skeletal adaptation have observed
( see S.D. Vol. 2) the APES
DESCENDED FROM MANKIND physiologically.
There is a law in physiological development set by the evolutionists
themselves. The work of De
Quatrefages ought to be referred to.
H.P.B. quotes it extensively. Using
references from the S.D. we find: Anthropologists.
Physiologists and Paleontologists established the “LAW OF PERMANENT CHARACTERIZATION” -- it states that it is not possible
for a “Superior form” (Man’s) to ‘descend’ from an “Inferior form” (Ape’s) [S.D. II 257-8 666-7 733] “An
organized being cannot be a descendent of another whose development is of an
inverse order to its own.” [
S.D. II 347 646 666-7 686-7 ] A WALKING
MAN cannot descend from an ARBOREAL CLIMBER (Ape) S.D. II 666-7 Man’s form
is primordial and the Ape-form is a specialization and a derivation from the human
skeleton. There was a time in the
distant past when cross fertilization took place between mankind and certain
large she-animals (much as cloning
is being done today) and the fertile product are the ancestors of the present
apes ( Orang-outang, Gorilla, Chimpanzee and Gibbon). The Ape as
it grows older becomes more bestial, Man - more human.” S.D. II 646 The “cave man” of early ages compares with the
men who use caves today -- in spite of parallel civilizations -- fossils are
few in number and from them, science has theorized the past with inadequate
evidence. Several eminent
scientists and paleophysiologists have challenged the Darwinian hypothesis
repeatedly. But they are not

the cranial development of the
Neanderthal and the Cro-Magnon show if anything a superiority to modern cranial
volumes. In the case of the
comparison of cranial volumes between Man and Apes it is found that the average
“savage” and the “pigmy” races of mankind (Borneo, Australia, Hottentots) have
a cranial capacity of about 99 cubic inches. The largest cranial capacity among the apes is that of the
Gorilla and averages about 35 cubic inches. [ S.D. II 193fn 168fn 522-3 ] No intermediaries have yet been found that accurately
depict a bridge or link between bestiality and humanism. Civilized
and savage races have existed side by side for ages [ S.D. II 168 317-8 425 522 676 686 716-7 721-3 ] Thismay
entail quite a bit of reading but the net effect is to restate the fact that
humans have 3 lines of evolution intertwined in them ( see S.D. I 181-2) and
these are the Spiritual, the Intellectual and the Physical. The Physical and its remains, give no
idea of the nature of the Intellectual being or the spiritual being that used
it. In the OCEAN OF THEOSOPHY (Judge) read
Chapters 4, 14, 15. You willfind
