STANZA I.-Continued.

3. . . . UNIVERSAL MIND WAS NOT, FOR THERE WERE NO AH-HI
(celestial
beings) TO CONTAIN (hence to manifest) IT (a).

-------------------------------

DTB H.P.B. in the discussions recorded in
TRANSACTIONS OF THE BLAVATSKY LODGE (pp 23 to 26) relates the
AH-HI to Mind- beings who assume various names as the ROUNDS,
GLOBES and RACES of Evolution flow by. They appear to be
immortal and Monadic, also according to their innate self-gained
abilities they assume various responsibilities in the re-starting
of the Universe. We are the AH-HI of primordial times.

We are the ones who are seeking to comprehend Nature in all her
parts and become thereby OMNISCIENT and CONSCIOUSLY responsible
for all we do. It this endeavor we alter the capacities of
MATTER.

>From the condition of Kama (selfish desire) it is transmuted by
us (Minds) to Buddhi. It is consciously removed from the grasp
of Kama-SELFISHNESS, and placed on to Buddhi-SAMADHI, where the
Universe is seen as ONE. As I understand it, Buddhi is a
designation given to primordial Matter, in which no resistance is
made for the operations of the universal will, spiritual, just
and pure. For this reason it is also called the AKASA.
Everything is recorded there ineffaceably.

Their (AH-HI) function in Nature and during the period of
Manvantara, is to serve as a link (between ever-changing forms
and "units of Matter," as they grow in personal capacity, through
experience, and service to others) and the ever-stable SPIRITUAL
BASE. In TRANSACTIONS top of p. 24 are a series of names
applicable to them in this ladder of transition and increment in
Intelligence and responsibility.
Apparently these are, in the primary stages of evolution, the
reincarnating basis (on the MIND-INVOLVED IN MATTER side) that
gives UNIVERSAL MIND, when it radiates out of the ABSOLUTE ( see
Trans. P. 94) a basis for the reconstruction of the fresh
reincarnation of a UNIVERSE. The rest and assimilation period is
over -- now begins the karmic effect. For Karma to be effective
a Mind-being is needed -- to generate and to receive effects.

H.P.B. gives us a survey there of the various levels and
responsibilities of these beings, -- which are OURSELVES now.

That which you quote below seems to say this in the best possible
way.

Best wishes,

Dallas
=================================

(a) Mind is a name given to the sum of the states of
Consciousness grouped
under Thought, Will, and Feeling. During deep sleep, ideation
ceases on the
physical plane, and memory is in abeyance; thus for the
time-being "Mind is
not," because the organ, through which the Ego manifests ideation
and memory
on the material plane, has temporarily ceased to function.

A noumenon can become a phenomenon on any plane of existence only
by manifesting on that
plane through an appropriate basis or vehicle; and during the
long night of
rest called Pralaya, when all the existences are dissolved, the
"UNIVERSAL
MIND" remains as a permanent possibility of mental action, or as
that
abstract absolute thought, of which mind is the concrete relative
manifestation.

The AH-HI (Dhyan-Chohans) are the collective hosts of
spiritual beings - the Angelic Hosts of Christianity, the Elohim
and
"Messengers" of the Jews-who are the vehicle for the
manifestation of the
divine or universal thought and will.

They are the Intelligent Forces that give to and enact in Nature
her "laws," while themselves acting according to laws imposed
upon them in a similar manner by still higher Powers; but they
are not "the personifications" of the powers of Nature, as
erroneously
thought. This hierarchy of spiritual Beings, through which the
Universal
Mind comes into action, is like an army-a "Host," truly-by means
of which
the fighting power of a nation manifests itself, and which is
composed of
army corps, divisions, brigades, regiments, and so forth, each
with its
separate individuality or life, and its limited freedom of action
and
limited responsibilities; each contained in a larger
individuality, to which
its own interests are subservient, and each containing lesser
individualities in itself.
