Sinnett wrote in THE OCCULT WORLD 1881 when introducing KH to the world:

"A day or two after, I found one evening on my writing table the first
letter sent me by my new correspondent. He was a native of the Punjab who
was attracted to occult studies from his earliest boyhood. He was sent to
Europe whilst still a youth at the intervention of a relative-himself an
occultist-to be educated in Western knowledge, and SINCE THEN has been fully
initiated in the greater knowledge of the East."

Notice Sinnett's words: "He was sent to Europe whilst still a youth. .
. .
"

No doubt, HPB told Sinnett about this in 1880/1881. Are we therefore to
believe that this trip to Europe only dates back 5 or 6 years to 1874/1875??

Take note also of KH's words from Oct. 1880 in the MLs:

"So I determined to emerge from the seclusion of many years and spend some
time with her to comfort her as well as I could. . . . I had come for a
few days, but now find that I myself cannot endure for any length of time
the
stifling magnetism even of my own countrymen. I have seen some of our proud
old Sikhs drunk and staggering over the marble pavement of their sacred
Temple."
