Dear Katinka:


As I read and study in the SD:

HPB in the SD uses the word "race" in a different context when
compared to modern ethnological usages.  She never uses the word
race in any derogatory sense as the races (old or new) were/are
used by the same kind and type of IMMORTAL MONADS.  And each
MONAD is on the same general course of PERFECTIBILITY.  There is
absolutely no high or low in this regardless of the appearance of
the present physiological form, and its present state or either
emancipation or degradation.

She indicates in the SD  (see under Lemurian, Atlantean, Aryan,
Semitic, Aztec, Incan, Indian, Chinese, Australian, Veddha,
Andaman, Tasmanian, etc...) that these are groups of human
physical forms that were evolved (and used by us, then) for
karmic and developmental purposes according to the progression of
"Rounds," "Globes," etc.,  and, the "7 Races developed on any
Globe, in any Round (that correspond to psychological,
physiological, and spiritual changes -- SD I 181-2).

If you look up the various races named in SD INDEX you will find
that she gives the origins of those PHYSIOLOGICAL forms which now
survive as seemingly separate sub-races of mankind.   But she is
also careful to indicate that the present-day EGOS using those
ancient forms -- transmitted by heredity on the physiological and
psychological planes -- are of a lesser level of experience and
development (yet, having the same potentials as all others).

In other words the crest wave of current egoic progress (in
general) seems to pass gradually on to some races that currently
provide the best areas for the development of special faculties.
It ought to be understood that no such faculties or opportunities
are denied to any Ego, as all must, in due time, receive the same
kind of environmental opportunity.  This is all ruled by Karma,
of the individual as he/she meshes with the general Karma of the
racial (Theosophical meaning please) groups and types.  NO EGO IS
ABASED or RAISED by the general LAWS OF PROGRESS.

What ethnology and the study of racial heredity reveals to us, as
the modern physiological and psychological habitats, for the
experience of and special group or level of egos, is that Nature
in its many ways and laws continues to provide the necessary
karmic habitats for both individuals and groups of individuals
(which we may call, or name: "races.")

Without an application and grasp of the process of Karma and
Reincarnation as regards the perfection of the Eternal Monad in
each human, this is all nonsense, and totally incomprehensible.
One can never reconcile the existing ideas of materialistic
evolutionary speculation with the Wisdom and actual records of
the ETERNAL WISDOM.  Modern studies deal with the physical,
material form but provides no reasons, other than very
speculative, as to the CAUSES for differences now observed.

I hope that this might help, but it requires a great deal of
correlate study -- and, it is all explained IN DETAIL in the SD
in various places and in several ways.

I get the point now. I just enterpreted this as HPB being
colorfull. But
you are right, it isn't kind words she is using here. I suppose I
tend to
think kindly of HPB even when she is not being kind herself.
