RE: Theos-World the future of religion

Dear Friend:

Thanks for your suggestions and observations concerning this
prediction as to a future "religion."

The following may be of interest:

The unity represented by the Esoteric Philosophy (now called
"Theosophy")
Seems to be represented in this account from MAHATMA LETTERS:

" ... It is an everyday occurrence to find students belongs to
different
schools of occult thought sitting side by side at the feet of the
same Guru.
Upasika (Madam B.) and Subba Row, thought pupils of the same
Master, have
not followed the same Philosophy - the one is Buddhist and the
other an
Adwaitee. Many prefer to call themselves Buddhist not because the
word
attaches itself to the ecclesiastical system built upon the basic
ideas of
our Lord Gautama Buddha's philosophy, but because of the Sanskrit
word
"Buddhi" - wisdom, enlightenment; and as a silent protest to the
vain
rituals and empty ceremonials which have in too many cases been
productive
of the greatest calamities. Such also is the origin of the
Chaldean term
Mage." ML 399 [ Letter 85 ]

We may have all had the opportunity to observe, reviewing the
course of Theosophical Societies, Groups, etc... during the past
100 years that when the Messengers departed all that was left
was the Message (exoteric and esoteric). The T S should have
been able to stand alone and united.
However, we note that disintegration began...and still goes
on...and the spirit and life of the Message has been lost to all
but a handful of ardent students who have independently elected
to unite and study Theosophy together as it was originally
recorded. All application has however (as always) been a matter
of individual choice and application.
As I see it: Universal Brotherhood without any distinctions
whatever was, and is, the key ...(see HPB's "Last Message to the
American Theosophists -- April 1891") In part, she says there:
"...divided, they will inevitably be broken, one by one; united,
there is no force on earth able to destroy our Brotherhood ...'BE
THEOSOPHISTS, WORK FOR THEOSOPHY.' " I would say that this
appeal is the Key-note of her heart, and is for the present and
future.
As any aspiring theosophist might say: The unassailable basis
for union among Theosophists, wherever and however situated, is
SIMILARITY OF AIM PURPOSE AND TEACHING. This will remove all
barriers of any kind. I find that it is a phrase used by one of
the Messengers. It is significant, and avoids all conflict with
organizations, being capable of including all without detriment
to any. : THE UNITED LODGE OF THEOSOPHISTS.
Members of any organization, or unattached, old and new students,
could belong to it without disturbing their affiliations, for the
sole condition necessary would be the acceptance of the principle
of similarity of aim, purpose and teaching. The binding
spiritual force of this principle of brotherhood needs no
Constitution or By-Laws--or Officers to administer them. With it
as basis for union, no possible cause for differences could
arise; no rook is found here for leader or authority, for dogma
or superstition...
As I read and see it: there are stores of knowledge left for
all; and the right spirit must bring forth from "Those who never
fail"-- all necessary assistance. Any considerable number,
living, thinking, acting, upon this basis, must form a spiritual
focus, from which all things are possible.
As a matter of practical application we might speak of important
areas where we can individually work; such as: open meetings,
public works, keeping Theosophy and Brotherhood prominent,
intercommunication between Lodges, free and frequent; comparing
methods of work; mutual assistance. But, basically, THE WAY TO
UNITE IS TO UNITE -- NOTHING PREVENTS IF THAT IS THE DESIRE.
I hope this may prove of value to us all,
Dallas
