Dallas,
I would like to ask your opinion on how much "ruling" you think is governed
by age and body chemistry? When we are in our sexual prime, is it realistic
to think ruling our passions in the name of ethics or morality is a likely
option? As we come into our mid life years can we truly expect to find a
lessening of the drive for power, authority and selfish acquisitions,
especially in societies that seems to only respect power, authority and
accumulated material. Is wisdom and spiritual transformation only available
once those chemical drives have abated some, or at least become manageable?
There does seems to be chemical forces that rule our behavior at certain
times of our life, emotional forces, at other times. For some few, subduing
these forces and attaining the Ideals seems be possible. For the many
however, control by the forces according to age does seem to be the rule.
What is your thinking here? Can we realistically expect those who are coming
of age to control the overwhelming passion that often lead to unusual or even
indiscriminate sexual activity? Did You? Did I? Perhaps ethics and morality
ARE for a different age group.
