This fits in well with the Kabballistic legend about Abraham and his sons. The Bible says that Abraham gave to Isaac everything he had, and gave gifts to his other sons who went to the East. This seems rather strange; if you give away all you have, how do you have anything left to give as gifts? The answer is the one thing you can give away and still have: wisdom. The concept is that Abraham gave his sons occult wisdom, in particular, who proceeded to spread the wisdom throughout the East.
