Theos-World sex casuistry

Before everyone tightens their chastity and celibacy belts too tight,
consider these thoughts:
1. If the enjoyment of sex should not be pursued because it is physical,
should we also not pursue other things related to the physical senses? For
example is music a perversion of hearing, gourmet meals a perversion of
taste, art a perversion of sight, sport a perversion of movement?
2. Could it not be argued that using sex merely for procreation is more
animalistic than using it for enjoyment and communion? Animals merely get
the job done-wham bang thank you mam-whereas humans pursue it for its pure
enjoyment and its expression of love and committment. If we just wham bang
and pop out progeny, is this not more animalistic?
3. Since the world is already overpopulated, and bringing more into the
world simply compounds the misery, should sex be abandoned?
4. Where is the proof that those who are celibate are more moral or at a
higher spiritual plane than those who are not?
5. Why is regular sexual practice by both men and women related to
decreased morbidity and mortality?
6. How does it follow that abuse of sex, extreme licentiousness and
obsession with it by some to their detriment, means sex is wrong or
unhealthy? Cannot anything be taken to excess--even "spirituality"--and
create harm?
7. How do we explain that it is next to impossible to eliminate the joy of
sex outside of procreation? For example, concupiscence that escalates with
hormonal flow can result in spontaneous dream induced orgasms. Who's to
blame for that?
8.. To many, sex is the purest form of joy available in life. Some even see
divinity in it every bit as much as contemplating the heavens. Why then take
it away?
9. Who is harmed when two people join in sexual intimacy expressing love,
affection, tendernous and trust? Is not sex the physical epitome of the
thing theosophists would argue we are to pursue toward one another-love?

Perhaps the words of the great guru Woody A. should be considered too:
When asked if sex was dirty, he replied: "only if it's done right."
