Actually, the whole thing is a scam, as exposed by <www.TOURBUS.com> in their
free newsletter.

When you ask the computer to give you the SHORT DATE, it displays the short
version of the date. If you ask it to display the LONG DATE, it displays the
four digit year.

Either way, it stores the four-digit year. The Y2K bug is not dependent on
how the date is displayed on your monitor or printed on reports. It's
dependent on how the data is stored on your hard drive.

I should know, I'm one of the programmers from the late 70's and early 80's
who had to do things that way. By using two digit for the year, I was able to
get hundreds or thousands more records on a floppy disk. I told all of my
customers that they had a choice between Y2K compliance (it wasn't called
that then) or extra records. All of my customers chose the extra storage of
data. They told me it was okay because they were going to replace the program
before the end of the century. Since most of them were using old TRS-80's, I
believe that they probably did replace all their software.
