Dear Alan:
Siddhis are defined as: "attributes of perfection," phenomenal
powers acquired through holiness by Yogis." [ HPB in Theos.
Glos. P. 298 ]
Siddhas are defined as: "Saints and sages who have become almost
divine, also a hierarchy of Dhyan Chohans." [ HPB in Theos.
Glos. P. 298 ]
Phenomenon is defined as: "an appearance", something previously
unseen, and puzzling when the cause of it is
unknown...theosophically and esoterically every "miracle"-from
the biblical to the thaumaturgic-is simply a phenomenon, but that
no phenomenon is ever a miracle, i.e., something supernatural or
outside of the laws of nature, as all such are impossibilities in
nature."
[ HPB in Theos. Glos. P. 252 -- If you have a copy of ISIS
UNVEILED you can refer to psychical phenomena on record that was
both classical and contemporary to HPB ]
I quote these as they seem to be reasonable and set the mind on
what is meant.
I hope this is of help.

You mentioned this in relation to Sai Baba. I've had an extensive
background
in the Christian church as a preacher, and saw lots of
'miracle-workers' (I
wasn't one myself.) Surly if one is spiritually advanced then
Siddhis would
flow naturally for the benefit of the people concerned. I recall
that it was
mentioned about Jesus that he performed miracles because of the
dullness and
hardness of the peoples heart towards his teaching. So the
Siddhis became a
sign. Does this sign then read "suspect", or, does it break
peoples material
conditioning to show them that there is something "better"?
Sometimes, if someone says they are spiritually advanced, or
close to god,
or is a avatar, then a natural question some people ask is, Prove
it.
I'm not trying to cause argument; rather, I wish to learn.
Kindly, Alan
