Swami Satchidananda is currently alive and has an ashram in Virgina, USA. He is from the Sivanada tradition and is from Perur, a suburb of Coimbatore. He is *not* much popular in India. As a matter of side interest I grew up in Coimbatore and it has one of the few TS Branches in India at whose founding HPB and HSO were present. All the years I lived in Coimbatore I never heard of Satchidananda.

Nature's Finer Forces by Rama Prasad is considered to be a very valuable work.
I do not know much about his book on Yoga Sutras.
