The idea of the karmamudra was taught by virtually *all* of the
great Tibetans Masters, although not necessarily practiced
by them. Your "no sexual contact" is taken to heart by those
who prefer the jnanamudra, which is basically a psychological
union of one's ego and anima (or animus for women). The idea
(and this is well documented in thousands of books) is to
withhold semen and instead let its "essence" rise up the central
channel and stimulate the chakras producing bliss. Now it just
so happens that this rising up of the essence of semen (bodicitta
in its more physical manifestation envisioned as a white drop)
can also result from jnanamudra and so a physical partner is not
really necessary and IMO would probably be a karmic liability in
this day and age.
