Dear Doss:
As I understand it the Kamaloca and Devachan states (after death)
are subjective and are "effect" states.
They depend for their existence and function on the life last
lived.
When living in a body we are a 7-fold being. After death we are
minus
1. in KAMALOCA the physical body is gone, and the astral body is
disintegrating.
In this state the selfish, personal, and lower propensities,
desires, etc., are sloughed off and the "KAMARUPA is formed - the
2nd "Death" occurs and the KAMARUPA begins to disintegrate in the
astral plane.
2. in DEVACHAN those mentioned above are gone, so is Prana, and
also Kama and Lower-Manas.
Remaining are Higher-Manas, Buddhi, and Atma. These form a UNITY
and the noble and altruistic, unselfish and brotherly impulses
and deeds of the last life are meditated on, developed, and built
into the permanent character
When this is finished as a process the return to earth-life
begins and the needed skandhas are recalled under Karma to form a
new personality.
This is a brief summary of the details you will find in KEY TO
THEOSOPHY by HPB. It would be good to re-read that book to more
firmly fix the teachings in your mind. If there is confusion or
difficulty let us know and some help will surely be offered by
someone.
Best wishes,
Dallas

The question that arose in my mind is can there be progress made
when one
is out of incarnation?
