This reply is terribly elitist (I know HPB but you don't!!) and says more
about
the author than about Theosophy. HPB never required anyone to accept
her "on her own terms" (whatever that means).

This is your own opinion and subjective conclusion based on your
current worldview. You are perfectly entitled to it. I, on the other hand,
feel quite differently. I have deep respect for HPB and her works and
somehow still was able to enjoy and appreciate Johnson's book,
which made her and her Adepts out ot be very human.

I would like to think that we all do this.

Debate is OK, as long as it doesn't get too personal. There is
no more wrong with your hating Paul's books than there is
with me liking them. HPB, like all of us human beings, is
multi-faceted and can be viewed from many angles.
