Note that the even the Adepts are not Adepts 24 hours a day (I forget
where it says this in the Mahatma Letters, and am too lazy to look it up
right now). It is also at least implied in the Mahatma Letters that in
order to remain in physical human form, they must generate a certain
amount of personal karma (probably why Moria had a pipe, for example).
