Alan comments:

I noticed.  There are always those - especially in so-called
"theosophical" circles, who do this.  It is why I left the Adyar society.  I
had been president of my local lodge for two years, treasurer for one, a
premises officer [not a real "office"] for just over a year, when I was
illegally dismissed because of the power trips of certain members.  I
spoke regularly at meetings, and was at least once a quarter the lecturer
for the evening.  I have even lectured at the London HQ.

I joined to serve.  I tried very hard to serve, but was shat upon by my
own "colleagues" - but I still try. viz. below:
