Ethernet is protocol used in linking many computers together using a cable.
It was invented by Xerox Palo Alto Research lab 25 years ago.

What I meant by carrel is the study desk in the library.

One more thing. I visited the University yesterday and I was told that
students can set up a server in their dorm rooms so that you can run your
own www so long as it is not commercial or does not run games. The school
does not want droves of users invading from around the world to play games
and slowing down everyone.
