Pam,

Thankyou for your response on Initiation. The thrust of my research into
Initiation has been to do with the ingestionof SOMA and other sacraments at
festivals such as the Eleusinian Mysteries. From my understanding these
sacraments (which have since become the placebo sacraments of the modern
churches) induced a deep psychotomimetic state that when understood
correctly reveals the mystery of life and death. After the initiate
receives the 'confirmation' that there is an immortal component to
his/herself that will always continue after bodily death he/she then truly
understands re-incarnation , karma and unity consciousness.

Of course this is just my interpretation. I recently posted an HPB quote
from the SD regarding SOMA and Initiation (may have been on theos-l) and
recieved no response. If I have misinterpreted this quotation then please
set me straight.

Namaste

Darren
