Am excellent contribution.      Permit a small comment, please.

"We are told that the effort of the modern Theosophical Movement is to
attract the attention of the highest minds of western civilization. It
might be asked: what for?"

This statement surprises me,  in "Theosophy and Education" in The Key to
Theosophy, H P Blavatsky explains at length how our so-called "highest
minds of western civilization" seem very unsuited to Theosophical
propositions.  So, no doubt it is asked "…. asked: what for?"
