Keith:
There is a real interesting idea in KABBALAH. It is basically that:
1) to receive in order to receive is of our animal and plant nature
and the rich and poor alike have this nature
2) to give in order to receive is trading, commerce, logical, practical and
on the level of common mind
3) to give in order to give is religious, ethical, consensual, harmonious
and on the level of the emotions or Heart (Bakti)
4) to receive in order to give is what we do in divine interaction with the
Divine Light as it does with us, this continuous loop/feedback interaction
is the Essence of altruism, Yoga, devachut, nirvana, salvation ...
Giving good Namaste
Keith
