Dear Ramdoss
There are still two branches of the T.S.--City and Cantonment, as they
were called; and the ULT near Lalbagh west gate. The Cantt. went
through some torrid times, and is lying low; the City is very active,
but does 90% of its work in Kannada (the local language) and for special
meetings on Sundays they provide "endowed" sumptuous breakfasts free
which draw 100 or more people.
Last evening the ULT held its Special Meeting in commemoration of the
starting of the Theosophical Movement in NY on 17th Nov. 1875. There
was all afternoon and evening a terrific thunder-storm, and since most
of our attendance walks to the meeting, we were only seven present. The
ULT here has two meetings a week, Sundays Public Lectures, and on
Fridays Study Classes. At the Study Class we are halfway through
Judge's "Ocean of Theosophy." The Indian Institute of World Culture,
close to the ULT, and founded by students of the ULT, has a free public
library open from 8 am to 7:30 pm six days a week. There there is a
complete collection of all Theosophical Books and Magazines, the former
can also be borrowed while the latter are in the reference section.
Do you come back to India sometime ?
Fraternal greeting to all on November 17th, Sophia
