Brenda,
Was this directed to me? Can't tell, unless you indicate who you are writing
to. If so, then I suspect that our very different styles of communication has
created a misunderstanding here. Since Bruce was posting quotes from the O.E.
Library critic reviewing Dr. Bryan's book, I though it would be nice to add a
little more color to his posts by relating my own experiences when I
interviewed Dr. Bryan many years ago. Also, I'm not sure how you use the word
"opinion" but Dr. Bryan's book is a carefully researched and documented piece
of work. When one's opinions are backed by research and documentation, then
for me, it carries more weight then some opinion based upon, say, their
feelings. You may believe differently, and that is your right. However, I
don't believe that Dr. Bryan's research is so easily discounted by calling it
mere opinions. Certainly, the U.S. Supreme court found Dr. Bryan's research
convincing enough to convict the Ballards of mail fraud. As for the
"thousands of people who are of the opposite opinion" I have no quarrel with
them. They are entitled to their opinions too, and I would welcome any
evidence that shows Dr. Bryan's research to be in error. As for my own opinion
on this matter, I have never expressed it here, but I'm certain that you would
not want to hear it.
Best
Jerry
