Yes, Yes. This is what we must do. Before we can legitimately aspire to
spirituality, we must first be willing to accept and confront our honest
lot as human beings. This means, IMO, the ability to look
compassionately at our personal selves and be able to accept the good
and the bad, the weak and the strong, the pleasant and unpleasant alike.
We are truly composed of both. Just as "God" has an unacknowledged
"dark" side, so do we. ~ ~ The potentiality of life. ~ ~

True spirituality is not a negation or disdain for human foibles, but a
wise and kind acceptance of the cause of our own ignorance.

In our effort to "get" to the next kingdom, let's not forget that the
path rightly traverses the fullness of meaning to be found in the word
"human."

(Q: Why is it that we can find nobility in the "majestic animals" and
easily conceive of the glories of "Masters" and "Dhyanis", but have the
hardest time coming to terms with the evolutionary sanction of the
kingdom "human?"

[P.S. Remember, Jesus didn't hang out with the pious "new agers" of his
day, but went into the trenches with the real people and spoke lovingly
to common folk. Buddha, for all the insight he received under the bodhi
tree, felt compelled to get up and act with compassion for the rest of
his life, preaching the truth that can liberate us all. Remarkable.]
