As a newcomer to this list and to Theosophy, I'd like to add my $.02.

I find the recent surge of activity on this list very envigorating.
Shortly after joining T.S., I started taking a course taught by John Algeo
and Tony Lyzy at the Wheaton on the Mahatma Letters (BTW, the subject of
Paul's book came up and students were encouraged to read it if they were
interested in the historical basis of the Masters but were urged to
approach the conclusions cautiously) and I was developing a view of TS as
being a very static organization. This list has shown me that there are a
lot of theosophists out there who actively thinking about TS subject
matter.

Regarding the volume of email, the most constructive assist is to either
edit or omit the message you're responding to --especially when the list is
real active. The email I've using defaults to including all of the
previous message in a reply. Sometimes it's hard to find the reply
scanning through the previous message.

A word of caution about urging members to take some of the discussion
"offline". This has produced some problems for the list Hermetica. We've
seen discussion go offline and never return or summaries produced by some
members which exclude further input. "Thank-you"s and similar personal
items directed to individuals do belong off line.
